Dan and Zac have been a great experience!!! GSP has been a bread I have wanted my whole life and we pulled the plug and got one. Dunfur kennels came highly recommend and they did not disappoint. Ragnar went for his fourteen week training and he came out of it looking like a future hunting dog. We live over five hours away and Dan was very good at communicating with us and send pictures and videos of his progress. We are very please with how great they are and how well Ragnar progressed in two weeks and we can’t wait for his next rounds. I highly recommend Dan and Zac for training your dogs!!!

I’ve spent so much time and money trying to train my border collie/ Australian shepherd. He is incredibly smart, but also very independent and stubborn. Kaslo spent about 4 weeks with Dunfur kennels and I am so impressed with his progress. He is less reactive to new people, he no longer pulls on walks, he listens on first instruction, and his recall is nearly perfect. The owner and his team treated Kaslo well and provided a structured environment for him to learn. What a change training with Dunfur has made. I highly recommend. Thank you!

Dan and Zac are highly professional trainers. I dropped my Brittany off at 12 weeks and they had him pointing live birds and conditioned to shotguns in less than two weeks. I then dropped off my Brittany at 6 months of age and they worked him through basic obedience and still put him on live birds, steadying, and additional shotgun conditioning. The best part is they let me tag along for training for two days and I learned A LOT! They showed me how to continue training my Brittany between visits, how to start forced fetch, how to get my Britt in the mindset to train, as well as a lot of other little pieces of advise. I got to watch older pointers, and younger ones from many different breeds and asked a ton of amatuer questions. They answered all my questions and then welcomed me back for a couple more days before I picked him back up. They are absolutely impeccable with training and Dan cooks a mean lunch too. They sanitize the kennel numerous times per day, no smell, and give your pup a good shower before letting him come home. Lastly, after spending two days following and shadowing, I realized they are super busy. There is only so much light in a day to get the job done. He is training hunting dogs, training non-hunting dogs, conditioning dogs to horses with live horses. I am so impressed with his operation. My breeder in Idaho did not hesitate when recommending Dan and Zac. I am 100% never using anyone else to ever train any of my pups. He has had clients continue to use him for 30 years, that says everything I need to hear. So if you need a professional, no nonsense, get your dog right trainer, this is THE guy. If you need your pup to stay over night because you have a business trip, this is the cleanest kennel in the business. I more than give them my highest recommendation. These other negative reviews are just people who who probably flat out don't understand the process. Spend one day following them around and it will change your perspective, this is a professional, serious kennel, and the dogs absolutely love them. Lastly, they work on the dogs timeline to be trained as well which means they really care about getting it right. If it takes a week, then it is a week, if it takes a month then a month, the important thing is they want the dog to reach the dogs potential. As a dog owner and hunter, that is all I can ask for. This is a kennel that has been in business for 30 years with no advertising except word of mouth so when you are this busy based off word of mouth, you are doing it right. Thank you very much for teaching my boy how to do what he was bred to do.

My two Setters spent 8 weeks with Dan and during that time I visited 4 times from Boise and worked with Dan and Zack approximately 6 days. I was always welcomed, learned as much as my dogs and treated with respect. Make no mistake, this is boot camp and it’s all about discipline, training, repetitive reinforcement and step by step learning. I read reviews, research and trust but verify...I am not Dan’s friend writing this. I am very pleased with the results but it is my responsibility to take this learning experience into the field this fall and I believe what Dan has taught me and my dogs will make this transition an easier one....coming from an avid Chukar hunter and dog owner since ‘83

I brought my less than 2 year old lab here for about a month while I was on the road working. Previously, my dog had been field trained by myself. He had been around live birds, guns, and other gundogs and had no issues. I figured bringing him to this kennel would be a great addition to his skill set and mine as well, based on their awards and other reviews. I apparently was misinformed by the staff. The day I dropped him off I was told he'd be learning some forced fetch and be put on live birds. The day I picked him up I didn't recognize him. He lost a ton of weight (I could see his ribs) and his overall demeanor was terrible. Very cowardice. Just overall not normal behavior for an non-nudered lab. Apparently, he was trained to walk properly on a leash and to be in total obedience towards me. I will say if that's what you're looking for, they do a good job. I spent the following two+ weeks nursing my dog's mental health back into shape. He wasn't eating, he wouldn't come close to me in the home, and he constantly had explosive diarrhea in his kennel and around the home. Be sure you're signing your dog up for the proper training at this kennel

Dan and Zach with Dunfur Kennels, are hard working people who are passionate about what they do. The kennel is always in great shape and multiple times throughout the day the kennel is washed down/sanitized. If you are looking for a place to get you're dog trained I can guarantee that Dunfur Kennels will do everything they can to get the most out of the dog, from basic obedience all the way to finished gun dog work. Great trainers, facilities and even better people.
