I recently had to put my 12 year old down due to unmanageable ill health and behavioral issues. It was the hardest decision that I have ever made but the most compassionate one. The clinic staff was so knowledgeable, supportive, caring and helpful. They spent a lot of time with me offering space to process the end of life decision. They made the entire experience very special and comfortable for us with a private room that was homely and separate from the main clinic space. Even candles in the waiting room and a quiet space. Pancho and I had lots of private time together for processing during the experience and it was at our pace. It was a magical experience and the most important one. Who could ask for more? Dr Zack and his staff are the best in Homer town hands down. Thank you!
This is such a great clinic. Taj loves going there even though he's been stuck with needles and neutered. The team adores him, and showers him with attention. A little over a year ago I got my new puppy and kitten. I was so glad there were two vet clinics as I knew I'd never go back to the other one. We are fortunate to have Kachemak Bay Animal Hospital in Homer.
I can’t say enough about the great care Dr Zach and team provide to their patients. They have provided great care above and beyond the level I ever expected. I needed care for my dog urgently on a Friday, unexpectedly. I called before the animal hospital was open. I did not leave a message, because I planned on calling when they opened. Five minutes before they opened I received a call from Dr Zach saying he saw the missed call and wanted to check if my pet was ok. Wow! This blew me away. I explained the situation with my dog and asked if there was any chance of getting an appointment last minute on a Friday. They worked us in without hesitation. Great care was given and my dog is doing much better. I even received a text inquiring on how my dog was doing a couple days later. This is only one of several stories I have about the great care Dr Zach and his team have provided since switching from another provider. I am so thankful they are here in Homer!
Absolutely the best! Doctor and technician are amazing. Have an older dog, hurt himself while we were traveling. They fit us in and offered awesome service. If we lived anywhere near here, would be our go to vet. Helped with the pain and gave good advice as we hit the road. Highly recommend.
These people bend over backwards for my George every single time I need their help. I’m all teared up just thinking about them. George has epilepsy and requires lots of special attention. Right now he is in for an ear infection, which could cause him to have a seizure. They scheduled him as “stand-by” because I don’t have an appointment…which means they will see him during their breaks and if a client becomes a no show. George is on a special dogfood that cannot be bought in Alaska and can only be bought with a vets prescription. I was not able to figure out how to get George his food but Sarah, my lass in shining armor, did it! Let me tell you about Sarah now. I’m not kidding about her being a lass in shining armor. I would love to hug her to give thanks but idk what is and is not appropriate anymore. This young lady is all smiles, all the time, is very knowledgeable and personal and she knows that our pets are our children. She MUST be the most valuable employee! All I can really say is that I am very proud of her. She is a real person, compassionate and 100% professional all the time. George’s vet, Dr. Zack, could not possibly be any more nice or helpful. Just looking at him you can tell that this is not even a job for him, not a career but an act of humility and passion for the love of animals. These are people that you want to invite to your house for dinner, take with you on fishing trips, stop in Safeway and shoot the breeze with. These are real people and Homer is very lucky to have such a crew of folks looking out for their pets. I am humbled and grateful to have them as my vet. I know vets, trust me, I’ve been to all of them here in Homer and in Anchorage…these people are the best. I love you guys, thank you so much for caring about my boy, George.
We had to bring our old kitty Simon in as he had a inch and a half 2 inch long tumor, growing off the side of his ear, his face. They were so wonderful with our kitty. And the doctor did such an incredible job there is no scar to even be able to notice. When he took the tumor off, he says he thinks he got it all. Well he did and our kitty is amazing. We love Kachemak Bay Animal Hospital.
