Description The Humane Society of Tuolumne County's (HSOTC) mission is to find homes for abandoned, abused, and unwanted animals, promote humane education, and maintain a clean and safe environment for homeless animals awaiting adoption. The HSOTC was established December 12, 1947. At that time, there was no facility to house the animals and they were kept in volunteers' homes. By 1980, the HSOTC gained a business office, yet the animals remained housed in the homes of volunteers. In 1997, the HSOTC acquired its current facility, conveniently located in Jamestown, comprised of 35 dog runs and 36 cat cages with an intake capacity to shelter over 90 animals in a county-wide emergency and all managed by a volunteer Board and limited staff.

We have now adopted our 3rd rescue dog from the Humane Society of Tuolumne County. They do a wonderful job of placing their rescues. Our newest is a wonderfully affectionate boy, that is going to make a great hiking buddy.

This was the best experience we have ever had. Harley, now Hetch, loves his new home and we are over the moon in love with him already. He is super playful and Hella smart. Potty trained at 4 months, knows so many words and actions, and very eager to learn. The staff here was AMAZING! I was determined to leave with him and they allowed it to happen. He's my best friend and such a great addition to our family.

Staff was friendly & helpful. Went with my son to look @ small dogs under 20lbs. He Found one he liked, but unfortunately, if you live in Quail Hallow, Jamestown Humane Society feels the apartments are too small & wont let people adopt a dog. Everyone has right to their opinions, but I feel the apartments are being judged instead of the people who want to adopt & give the dog a good home. It would be helpful if the Jamestown Humane Society would post the "places" they don't wish to adopt too. These cat pics are of Salvador is was adopted from the Jamestown Humane Society in 2006. (His bday was 2002) He's now 15years old.

By far the best run shelter. They truly care about each and every animal that comes into the facility. The place is spotless and the employees are very kind and helpful. Please consider donating. 😻🐕

I found my new dog (Oreo 2 - now Max) here. I live in Stockton and thought the personnel friendly and helpful both on the phone and during my visits. The shelter was very clean and the animals well taken care of. I appreciate that they are careful before adopting pets. They checked my references, home and yard before agreeing to let me adopt. My new dog is perfect and is now in his forever home. Thank you to the Humane Society of Tuolumne County and their personnel.
