TAKE YOUR PETS LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!! Figured I would update my review, since my previous review was from back when there was a veterinarian at this facility who cared and wasn't too lazy to do his job. Last time I was there, the same scenario played out. Told me to euthanize my kitty, Hugo who just needed extra help... he's happy and healthy now, no thanks to harmer. Today, 7/27/23 I brought in a stray who had a wound on one of his front legs. I brought him in to be bandaged, whatever he needed for his arm. My plan was to take him home. Harmer is great when it comes to manipulation, almost had me convinced that this kitty, with an arm wound needed to be euthanized. What his list of reasons boiled down to was "I'm too lazy to really care" He said he is too wild to treat, even after sedation. Yeah, I get it, cats, especially stray cats, don't like the vet; But it's not like in any scenario he was going to just sit there and let them mess with a wound that hurts him, in a new, scary place, surrounded by people he doesn't know. He didn't even bother to bandage him, and when he brought him in, all but chucked this poor, sedated kitty on the ground towards me.... I picked him up and he snuggled into my arms.... he didn't fight me. The plan was, to sedate him, he'd fall asleep, and harmer would give him the final shot to send him on. This kitty wanted to live. He refused to fall asleep, curled in my arms... then some lady thinks this is the perfect time to come talk down to me about some outstanding bill I have. Could have called me at any point, but no, let's choose when I'm a sobbing mess, holding a kitty that they want to euthanize. Long story short, the kitty, I've named Phillip, is at home with me, bandaged up, and taking a snooze by my side. I will never go back to him, and I urge others to do the same. I've heard plenty of horror stories about harmer, but this was the final straw for me. Call Carbon and Emery County Vet instead.

Dr. Harmer and his staff are very personable and provide quality care. I probably have the only dog that likes to go to the vet for his annual shots. Techs and office staff give extra love to my extra large bernedoodle. And, they were extra tender with my frail, old 6 lb poodle.

I have had such good experiences here with my cats, rabbits and chickens! They've been super great about getting me in during emergencies, so kind to my animals, and I've never felt like I was over charged for anything.

I have never encountered such an incompetent, negligent center that is supposed to be in the animals best interest. They do not follow policy and procedure, they don't have any ethical or moral consideration, and it shocks me that they are still operating. Please- for you and your animals best interest, go to Carbon animal health instead. I'm disgusted by this "so-called" animal hospital. Edit for their response: Our cat is never allowed outside, but had broken out and got trapped within the same time frame. Funny that you blame us. May I ask why you find it appropriate to put an animal under anesthesia before checking for scarring or other evidence that a spay/ neuter has not been done? How do we know if you even checked for a micro chip before I confirmed via telephone call? Also, the cool thing about breakaway collars is that they break away. But let's chat about how a clean white cat that you labeled as "overweight" was considered a feral/ stray. Let's also talk about how you put him under Anesthesia before ensuring he was needing the surgery, let alone tattooing and altering his ear (quite terribly done, by the way). I confirmed with other vetinary centers that the way you and your clinic went about this was very wrong. To add, My indoor cat was released while still under the anesthesia and received medical services that should have easily been avoided. I am so grateful that my cat knew his way home so he didnt get hurt or worse once he was carelessly let go. Dont get me wrong, i am a huge advocate of TNR, but the lack of procedure is frustraing for a pet parent like myself. After multiple calls to confirm what occurred, I still never received any concern from Dr. Harmer on the well-being of my animal. Only lame excuses to justify his actions. This man is only in it for a paycheck. No apologies, no concern for the animal, but he sure is ready to argue. Thank you to carbon animal health for the follow up visit that was needed after castle country vet's actions. Case closed.

The service was wonderful! We are visiting Utah from NC and they were able to see my Yorkie on short notice. Super nice folks! Definitely recommend.

Such good workers there! Notified me before doing another necessary procedure on my cat. I am very grateful for that! I'm bringing all my pets!
