Very nice new facility. Kennels are clean looks like they animals are well taken care of. Folks very nice and accommodating. Have room to meet the animals to see how they interact etc. Always in need of volunteers and supplies. I was happy to hear they share their pets with other shelters across the states. Thus, it is done when other shelters are low and people are looking for a specific breed.
We lost our,Ginger during vacation at the beach. PLEASE BEWARE.small older dogs can DIE from locking the sand off their feet. So we HAD to locate a sibling for Nora. Whom has S.A.D. separation anxiety disorder And my wife's broken heart. On the mad dash search. We checked in with EVERY animal shelter/rescue within an hour of Knoxville( ok ,munroe was 1 hour 10 minutes ) but WELL WORTH it. For we found Styx ! A better match , we'll manered , independent yet craves love , uses pet door ( I installed within 24 hours of bring Styx home ), LOVES playing for hours on end with our Nora B.T.. could never find a more pawfect match !! Thank you Cindy for fostering him , Sabrina for finding him fir us , And our Westwood contact. Whom TOLD us to go here. Styx definitely is at his Fureve4 Home , with sister, mom , dad. ( the name of location recently changed , since the floods, so be aware of that) Christopher and Bella
I rushed an unidentified dog that had been hit by a car here on Thursday night. Unfortunately the poor pup quietly passed away during the drive. The gentleman who met me at the shelter was so kind and helpful, assuring me I did the right thing by trying to make the dog as comfortable as I could while I searched for an emergency vet. The gentleman checked for identification or a microchip but found none. He said that the dog would be held in their morgue for a few days, and even if no one came to claim the body, the dog would still be respectfully laid to rest. He also let me pet the happy beagle he'd picked up earlier in the evening to help me calm down. Unfortunate situation, but I'm glad the person there was so professional and reassuring.
Although it seemed loud and chaotic at first for me, there is much care and kindness going on behind the scenes. Without sound barriers on the outdoor kennels, the dogs can become rightfully excitable once the loud barking ensues. Veterinarians have examined each animal one or more times, each animal is spayed or neutered and all vaccinations are up-to-date. The entire staff has been open and honest in answering all questions I've had and I'm proud to say that that the stray who was walking the streets of Tellico Plains (formerly known as Shady Lady) has found her forever home and now goes by Sadie!
I can’t say enough bad things about my experience. I called today to try to see if they had any availability for a sweet, stray in our neighborhood. When I called she told me I didn’t need to call them I needed to call animal control. I explained that we were trying to avoid animal control because we wanted to make sure he went to a no kill shelter. She then told me to “hang on”, where her and a coworker proceeded to talk about me while I could still hear. The coworker said “Yeah good luck with that, everywhere has a wait list. Also there’s no such thing as a no kill shelter.” She then began speaking to me again and repeated everything they had said, in a slightly less demeaning tone than how they had been speaking about me previously. She then said “so do want to get on our waitlist or do you want the number for animal control?” To which I responded, “after everything you’ve just said, I don’t want to go with y’all”. She responded with “yeah, okay bye” and hung up the phone. I just really wasn’t expecting to be treated that way. Especially, since all I was asking was if they had availability to take another dog.
I was told by animal Cantrell that he had no more room for any more animals and for me to call the animal shelter. So I did, I was also told from the animal shelter the same thing. They had no more room for no more animals. But they did have food that had been donated. I was desperate for these animals. They were starving so I went and got off the food and fed them but when it ran out. I can buy no more food. I'm on disability. I've tried to call for over a week and a 1/2, and my call is disconnected before I ever get to talk to someone I have enough problems right now, this isn't my job. This is my heart. And I can't walk away from these animals that are starving The dog is now setting out her pups to die because she cannot feed them so since There is supposedly not no room for these animals I am. Begging the public so please help me save these Poor animals from starving to death. They Have been dropped off by obviously heartless people. And the location others animals is On highway 72 right around the Dragons den bar. You'll see a silver boat turned upside down on the side of the bar. That's where the dogs had. There's 2 l ofthat's. That's just everywhere, including smashed ones in the road, please Go. Get these animals I can't do it alone. That's why there's places called animal shelters if there's no more room for these animals, then something else needs to be done but the situation is not being handled at all period And been left on my shoulders. I can't carry this weight. I'm already beat down to the payment myself. Thank you for your help
