Dr. Barker is an outstanding veterinarian and has been looking after our pets. For over twelve years, Dr. Barker took care of our Duchess who we lost one year ago at age 17 years. Now we have Missy (Who also rescued US) We are very fortunate to have access to a veterinarian of Dr. Barker caliber. We completely rely on her good judgement and professional expertise. We know that she will do everything to make ensure our Missy receives the very best medical care. Dr. Barker really cares about the animals she treats and does everything possible to attend to their every need. We are willing to drive the 40 miles (one-way) from the Mount Vernon area to Great Paws to have our Missy receive the very best care available. I love the stress free quietness of Great Paws. Meredith Barker is top notch vet, knowledgable of course, stays up to date on new improved meds and procedures but she and her staff also listen very well (and do not just throw more tests at you for example). She puts your pet first and can prescribe traditional as well accupuncture and chinese herbs which helps my dog in his very old age tremendously (golden retriever going 15). Highly recommend!

I can't thank Dr. Barker and the entire team at Great Paws Veterinary Hospital enough for the incredible care they provided for my dog Mudkip. We were apprehensive about our New York trip this past weekend, but Dr. Barker's expertise and the staff's support made it a fantastic experience. Mudkip had the best time with our pet sitter, and it's all thanks to Dr. Barker's exceptional skills. Her techniques, thoroughness, and patience were remarkable. During a stressful time, she ensured Mudkip's health and comfort, making it the best vet visit and pet-sitting experience we've ever had. Dr. Barker's plan, which included anxiety medications and techniques we could implement at home to prepare Mudkip, truly made a significant difference. Given Mudkip's history of being difficult with sitters, including a previous escape, we were worried. But with Dr. Barker's guidance, Mudkip was relaxed, happy, and well-behaved throughout the weekend.
