This place is simply amazing everyone has welcomed us with open arms. We are truly blessed to be here. The staff here is so nice and treats everyone equally. This is the first time I have felt peace in a while. This is more of a home than a shelter .Thank you to community action God bless you.
I was amazed to think of how long I’ve been visiting here for the Pantry and because I’ve lived in the neighborhood I’ve been here for years and it’s amazing to think about in time. I’ve seen an awful lot of faces here and I just wanted to say thank you they’ve all been great. They’ve all been very helpful to me and my family.
I just wanna thank Corey, & Alejandra for their time and patience. Often when your homeless your not always treated as a human. But here not only is the staff nice but treat you with respect and compassion. I also like that they hold you accountable for getting things done to ensure housing. Our stay was longer than we would have liked, but its really awesome having a group of people who don't just kick you to the curb, like the Good Neighbor Center. The housing coordinator is very good about doing what she says, as well as keeping her appointments. Corey is truly a strong leader, that works tirelessly to make sure her staff and residents have what they need to achieve their goals. Although 1 bad apple can spoil a bunch, this staff takes special care to address and understand the individual needs of all their residents. Sadly some things the staff has no control over like those who don't value having a roof over there head, complaining about very light chores. It makes sense that they want a clean shelter, as well as help you get ready to transition into your own home. No, they don't promise to housing but they do make sure you have a plan in place. This shelter is very quiet and relaxing to house 5 families. I wanna also thank Sara, Melissa, Megan & Sandy who helped out our barking dog, Jasmine for being a good friend to our son, Harry, and Matt for talking football with me. If you're looking for a hand up? This is the place. God bless the staff of Community Action and thank you for being patient with me and my family. Sincerely.Mr.McClellan
I needed help and they helped. It was in early 2001 and they prevented my son and I from becoming homeless. They kind, compassionate, and treated me with respect. Looking back I can't even imagine how different our lives would have been. This review is late but the passing of so much time really allows for real perspective. Many thanks to the community action family shelter.
This shelter was a blessing for my family. All staff goes far beyond helping you find a home. They are friendly, compassionate, nonjudgemental treat each family with love ❤️and respect. It's really up to you whether you get housing. I suggest don't lie about any barriers you may have. They will show up. They can't help you if you can't be honest with any issues you may have. God bless you all . Keep doing a great job. Never lose the love for what you do. You are making a difference one family at a time. Thanks again to all of the staff. Much ❤️ Tiffiney
This organization is amazing. I volunteered at the Family shelter regularly and worked with the residents as a counselor and photographer. The compassion of the staff is remarkable. A very positive experience for me. I suggest giving them some time volunteering.
