After waiting for 4 long months and numerous folliw up calls to tryvto surrender my puppies, a sheriff deputy showed up on a Saturday morning to confiscate my 6 month old puppies bc someone reported they were outside with no food or water, which was not the truth. The sheriff and I both agreed that whoever called actually did me a favor otherwise the puppies would probably still be here since the shelter had their phone system setup with a recording telling tax paying citizens of Cabarrus county to leave your info, only to NEVER be called back! They couldn't be over worked if they weren't calling people back, yet this is what I was told when I made a trip over to inquire about when would I hear from them. The supervisor was unprofessional and told me to go home and keep waiting! I can only imagine what the poor animals over there is going through. I pray my puppies found a loving new home. Thankfully there's a SILVER lining to my ordeal...the sheriff who oversees the animal shelter received my sad story/ complaint and is trying to rectify the negligent behavior of the animal shelter staff so no one else will experience what me and many others were subjected to.

I’ve brought in a couple stray kitties here and they were very reassuring and nice each time. I recently just came back to adopt a little buddy and everyone was really easy to work with and kind! I highly recommend getting your new pet here!

I adopted a kitten by the name of Squirrel which I immediately changed to Ricky. I received a voucher to have him neutered at the spay/neuter clinic which went very well. We already had two rescue dogs and he has been an incredible addition to the family. The dogs have trained him to be obedient and basically to be a dog! Our joy over having Ricky join us has been a blessing! Life with these precious animals is better than one being without them!

In regards to the Animal Control side: absolutely useless. We've called on stray cats in our neighborhood and kittens that we're running around. Said "sorry we won't do anything". A stray gnawed a hole in my crawlspace vent and entered my crawlspace. It proceed to destroy my vents, leaving me with $1200 of damage to pay out of pocket, thanks to their inaction. Very clearly, they do not care about the animals, because if they did they'd help get these strays off the streets and prevent issues like this

The process of adopting our kitty was so easy and quick! Everyone we dealt with at the shelter was so nice and thorough of what needed to be done. I would definitely recommend this shelter for anyone looking to adopt. We are so happy with our new fur baby Mittens!!!!

I am new to NC and adopted my lovely Layla here on 11/9/22, and she has been nothing short of a blessing. The approval process was quick and Christina was very helpful and answered any questions I had since this was my first dog.
