Description Cat Care Society is a private, non-profit cat shelter founded in 1981 to improve the quality of life for cats in need in the Denver metro. Our unique and free-roaming approach views all cats as worthy, regardless of their age or abilities. We are non-discriminatory and take in cats that may not have a chance anywhere else, including those with unique medical or behavioral issues. Our mission is to be a safe and enriching place for all cats on their journey to a loving home. We do this by providing compassionate care, shelter, adoption services and community engagement.

Adopted my sweet girl Ramona from here in the beginning of April. She had some small medical issues that needed taken care of before she was sent home and staff were very communicative with me throughout her recovery and took such great care of her! I would absolutely recommend this shelter to my friends and would like to thank the staff so much for their friendliness and guidance. Ramona is doing so well and has now fully adjusted to her new home
Amazing staff and even cuter cats! Most of these cats have some form of special need, so maybe not the best for first time cat owners, but all of the cats are so lovey, sweet, and ready for forever homes! We adopted our little dumpling (previously known as Kane) from here, and he is so full of personality and love! An amazing addition to our family ❤️ Edit: also, amazing human food, amazing pickles in the store!
I got my cat in January from this shelter. It was an amazing experience, the shelter itself was very nice and my cat had extensive paperwork on her behavior, health, etc. If anyone is looking for a feline friend, Id definitely look here.
Very friendly staff and lots of cats up for adoption. They let 18 & up adopt. We also got our newest fluffy baby there. Cat Care Society also has a lot of special care cats with some being sponsored with a free adoption. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to adopt a new fluffy baby or their first
Wonderful place if you’re serious about fostering or adopting. My boyfriend and I have have adopted 2 beautiful cats from here and they’re so amazing. Nothing like other shelters, the cats are given loads of space to roam and you really get to see how they interact with other cats. They take great care of the cats and keep everything clean and organized, all the staff are kind. Definitely adopting from here again!
Adopted 2 adorable kitten brothers from this shelter in March ‘23. I do love how kittens go to first come first served. It was also humorous when a lady was clearly irked that I had selected the cat she wanted, but I did arrive at 10:30 to land my spot in line. They had one of the cats I adopted listed as a female…but definitely male. I don’t care about the fact that Mars is a boy, but it may be frustrating for some, so make sure you check before if that’s important to you. I took the kittens to the vet shortly after adoption and they had bordetella (normal for shelter kitties to have that). They also came back positive for FCV (feline calicivirus), so that can come back periodically, but, that’s not the end of the world. Adoption fees would have to be significantly higher if we wanted them to test for everything before adoption. So I understand why that was an unknown. After 10 days of antibiotics, they were back to being healthy little kittens! They have been the absolute perfect additions to our family! Sweet, kind, playful, great with people, and adapted well to our dog. When I’m ready for new kittens in 15+ years, I’ll definitely check with the Cat Care Society again.
