Description The Dorothy H. O’Connor Pet Adoption Center provides homeless animals a caring environment with the purpose of the adoption of dogs and cats into their own loving homes. Dorothy Hanna O’Connor (1907-1992), Victoria’s preeminent caregiver of dogs and cats, established Six Flags Humane Society in 1963 as the community’s first animal rescue shelter. As the successor organization, The Dorothy H. O’Connor Pet Adoption Center is dedicated in her memory, so that a new generation of Victoria County’s citizens may continue in her work of humane treatment of dogs and cats and to facilitate the adoption of God’s creatures into loving homes.

What an great experience it was at Dorothy OConnor's pet adoption center! I took my mom there to look for a companion and while she didn't find the one she was looking for then, I'm sure she will eventually. The staff here is so wonderful. You can tell they love the animals and the work they're doing. The lady who assisted us knows all of the dogs and cats and takes extra special care of them. The adoption fees are extremely reasonable and all of the dogs are microchipped, spayed/neutered and utd on all shots, etc. I fell in love with a couple of cuties but I'm just not in a position to adopt. I'd recommend this center for anyone considering adopting a cat or dog.
Great Establishment! Unbelievable Service! We Adopted Today! I highly recommend this place if you are interested in adopting a pet. They have a very good system in place. Beautiful Dogs and Cats to choose from.
Great place. Dogs well taken care of.
Absolutely amazing staff and workplace!! I had to make the heart wrenching decision to put my 17 year old childhood dog to sleep and the vet suggested to go to Dorothy O’ Connor pet adoption to have him cremated. They made the whole process as peaceful as they could. The sweet lady at the front desk helped me through it all, from picking out a scatter tube for my fur babies ashes to his paws being engraved, to being able to say my last goodbyes. They really show how much they care and the heart for the animals and people alike. Definitely recommend this place to adopt or have your fur baby in your heart forever.
Absolutely a great experience adopting my new best buddy Bruce from here. EDIT TO ADD: I can't say too much about the staff and the facility. There's a great chemistry there. They also offer a discount on fees for LEO, MIL, etc. The living facilities for the animals are clean, and they have nice recreation areas. If anyone has any doubt about adopting pets from this facility, don't.... My mom became an enthusiastic supporter of DOC after the adoption of our buddy Bruce.
Wonderful staff who genuinely care for all the animals there and are committed to helping them be adopted. Wonderful animals as well. I've been volunteering there for about 3 years and I can't help but fall in love with the animals over and over again. I found a wonderful black cat there a couple years ago who is now everyone's favorite member of the household and a major part of my life, all thanks to this place for taking him in and helping to socialize him.
