Went to the CSRA human society to make a donation. I was extremely disappointed by the way the faculty looked. Not well maintained. Barely could even take a step in the door as the entrance was full of stuff. The smell of cat urine was overwhelming. I have been to other facilities in the past and this was truly disappointing.
From a former volunteer: This is an excellent place for cats. The treatment of dogs in this place is deplorable. The ladies that run the place try very hard to keep anyone, potential adopters included, out of the dog area. We can't go in there because the dogs will bark. No kidding. Those dogs are neglected beyond belief, and these people should not be allowed to keep dogs at all.
*UPDATE* pics inc... THESE PEOPLE ARE AMAZING! WHY?!: WELL HERE'S MY REASONS: Back in October(prior to my original post you can see below still) a mama dog and her two pups literally wandered to our door step I noticed they didn't have collars but were so grateful to have food water and shelter... Long story short we took them all in until I could find help for them making sure they would let me know that if they weren't adopted I'd be called out could call and find out their adoption statuses. Well I cried when they took them my husband said "keep one if you want, besides Butchee (Our 2 & 1/2 yr old we rescues at 4 weeks old) needs a brother" the gentleman who came to get them said they had to take all of them to vax etc but when they came up for adoption we could show up and get him. Adoption day came and instead of being excited I was so sad and miserable bc I wasn't able to go ...I was stuck in a hospital bed that entire week! However my husband showed up before they opened, he went in and got my baby Ottis for me/us!!! Best surprise he's ever given me! He's ALWAYS gonna have love and be safe and sound with his new family. He's bonded with his brother and he's potty trained already and so grateful to be back in the home his birth Mom found for him! Bonus: his sister and Mom were also taken in by great families! (Original post⬇️ before we were blessed with the addition of Ottis *the white puppy*) Stop complaining and start volunteering. If you're saying the lady was rude then I'm assuming she needed help. Did you offer to clean!? Did you offer to donate food? Did you offer to help them whenever they at least make sure to keep them under a roof and not kill them!? People with negative remarks and no remark about their own experiences in helping really upset me. If you have nothing nice to say after doing NOTHING then let that stay to yourself please. I look forward to adopting our next family member there so my fur son can have a sibling to love and grow with...I don't mind if it stinks etc, and yes I will definitely offer to assist in any way I can. That's what good people do!!!
The people that give bad reviews I think you don't know how to use your brain. This is a wonderful place for a cat. They are not kept in a sad lonely small cage. Instead they are allowed to roam around and have dozens of friends to play with. In some ways this is better than if you adopt one cat and leave it home all alone while you are at work.
Friendly workers. Cats are not in small kennels and roam free in their rooms just for cats! Thankful for the CSRA HS. They take donations if anyone wishes to help!
I got both my dogs from this shelter, and couldn't be happier. The dogs can be very loud when they are in the back, so I was a bit nervous, but once I was in the yard with either dog, they were instantly adopted. I tell everyone to get their dogs here.
