Came to donate some cat food and was pleasantly surprised with the fact that you can go into the different rooms they have to HANG OUT WITH CATS! You can give them some treats and pet them to your heart's content 💕 or better yet, get to know your future furbaby and provide a fuuuurever home. They also have this super cute program called Seniors for Seniors (I believe that's what it's called) where the elderly can foster the clinics' older cats, 🥹 so sweet. FYI: It's kinda tucked away when you're arriving if you aren't familiar with the street it's on. Staff is very nice too(: I'll be back!
Went in today to check out the shelter. Very well done, all the animals seem very happy. I learned it is the only no kill shelter in toledo and I think that is fantastic. The staff are generally warm and professional, the facility is clean and well maintained. I love that they have separate rooms for the cats so they don't have to live in cages and people can go in and see them when they want so the animals seem less nervous.
Im so thankful that my kids and I wandered in to paws and whiskers one day out of the blue to look at cats. I should’ve known we would fall in love— not just with one but 2! I highly highly recommend checking out paws and whiskers and adopting. All of the cats are well taken care of and loved. The environment is clean and open and the entire staff is just amazing. Thank you for doing what you do. You guys are truly truly special humans. P. Thank you Molly for taking such good care of these babies
10/2023 addendum: well I’m going to keep my previous review active with an unfortunate update. A lot of changes occurred this summer at Paws and they’ve been very unfortunate. I can no longer support them as a foster or donor. I will never tell anyone to NOT adopt from them because these cats need help regardless of their circumstances. But Paws is not what it once was and the board needs to know they’ve made major mistakes, and they’re feeling it both in their outcomes and in their pocketbooks. Very, very sad. I’ve been volunteering with Paws for a little over a year and I’m so glad I started. The staff really cares about the cats and they provide excellent care. The staff know the names and stories of all the cats by heart. Cages are only utilized when necessary. Most cats are free-roaming in home-like rooms or in the lobby. It’s really uplifting to spend time there and socialize with the cats and kittens. I’ve also met some great friends that volunteer there as well. I definitely recommend supporting Paws because they do great things for this community. Included are some pics from the past year that I’ve taken of some of the happy kitties!
I love this place! It's organized, clean, and an enriching environment for the cats and kittens. Some of the cats and kittens are free roaming in the lobby, but the rest are in rooms based on their different needs or temperaments. I love that. It goes to show that the people there care about the cats and kittens. The only time that cats or kittens are in cages is when they've been recently admitted and/or are getting medical care. The cages are spacious, clean, and have everything that the cat or kitten would need. They help as many cats and kittens as they can, and are patient even with people who are returning adopted ones. I recently adopted my fur friend from this shelter, and the process was great. They cared a lot and they even checked in on her several times after. When I'm ready to adopt again, I will definitely be adopting from here.
EDIT-RESPONSE TO P&W,.. my grandson did not get denied from you he didn't even apply. You don't even understand the situation. He got his cats at TAR before I even came to paws and whiskers. I am just 100% disappointed in the lack of communication. I am the one that was having an issue with a cat. But I took care of it on my own thank you I did like that they have little rooms that you can go in with one or two cats. the people that I actually worked with were not very well-informed did not give me all the details until after the fact have some issues can't get anyone to call me back not happy my grandson adopted from Toledo animal rescue give them 10 Stars
