Description Wilson County No-Kill Animal Shelter, Inc. is a nonprofit 501c3 organization that aims to be a model shelter in south Texas. We are addressing the issue of pet over-population by providing solutions through services and prevention through education. We started as a community effort focused on creating a no-kill animal shelter that is built, managed and maintained by individual volunteers as well as volunteers from local animal rescue groups. We have since become the primary resource for not only the community, but local veterinary clinics and law enforcement. We know Wilson County lacks a facility and rescue groups are at capacity because of pet overpopulation and abandonment, so we have stepped up to fill that void.
The staff are very friendly. Jessica and Brandy they were very helpful. Please support them in there mission and donate to keep their facility running and the programs they provide for shots, housing, food, and transportation dogs to better homes and facilities. They're trying to get a bigger facility let's help them do that currently they only have 24 kennels and they want to expand more to further their mission of saving these dogs
What a wonderful group of dedicated volunteers. Kennels are clean, dogs are healthy and have been well evaluated to be matched with the perfect owner. Thank you for all that you do!
people will do some of the stupidest things like dumping there dogs on the streets or starving them to the point you can see there ribs. we got our dog from the shelter already trained and we have so much fun together. i am a volunteer i go with scouts
I understand this is a non-profit and the workers/owners don’t get anything out of it, but I’m extremely disappointed with the way it is ran. I tried to find a dog I dropped off there a couple months ago (I knew he probably wouldn’t be there still but it was worth a try). I showed them a picture and they hardly knew what dog I was talking about then continued to tell me they probably sent him to north Texas to another facility, and what they chose to do with the animals is not on them but COULD NOT tell me where he went. They didn’t even know exactly where he went. I messaged them on Facebook and again they couldn’t answer my question, then just left me on read. I understand this is a great thing they are doing, but if the facility was more welcoming to the people that come in, they would have more people supporting them. Multiple times people have tried to reach out to them about donations and they fail to respond. If you want the community to help you find homes for these animals I suggest that y’all should have your arms wide open to the community instead of acting like they are a bother.
My grandson did some volunteer work today. The other volunteers were very nice and helpful in training him to the care these dogs need. This place is amazing with the way the animals are treated and cared for. He did cleaning and watering with some play time with several dogs. He will be volunteering next weekend.😊
The shelter is run primarily by volunteers. They do their best. For the 3 years I have lived in the area they have greatly improved the facility for the animals. They usually have fundraising at the floresville market days. They always need food.
