This group does a great job coming to check in tied up and caged dogs on my street. We have a fee neighbors who leave the pups out. The patrol issues citations to those who leave their pups tied to trees.
Best animal care around! Before you read those negative comments; Nassau County Animal Services works so hard to accommodate the never ending influx of unwanted pets. This is a hardcore job for all involved, and until you have been a volunteer there, and understand what animal rescue really means... don't spread negativity. 120 + dogs and a society that disposes of animals as though they are a burden or an inconvenience, one should applaud the effort taking all pets in, at the same time giving love and care to all while trying to find homes for their animals... NEVER take that effort for granted! They do the best they can with what they have and still come out on top making it happen! GO GET YOUR DOG FROM NASSAU COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL, your will not regret it! Better yet, go volunteer and walk their dogs!
My experience here was amazing. My cat had run away and I had been frantically looking for him, and he turned up at the shelter, they let me visit with him and hold him for a while so I could make sure that he didn’t feel alone, and I brought him his favorite food to hold him over while he got his required shots etc.The people here clearly have a profound love for these animals, and the animals are all taken care of. I cant thank them enough for finding my cat!
Very efficient and caring staff. I came here to get my dog’s licenses and someone came and dropped off a dog inside the building without saying anything to anyone then ran away. The staff acted quickly and took care of the dog right away.
I have been a volunteer at this facility for awhile now. I find every employee there to be kind and compassionate to each animal they encounter. I have witnessed their work with both cats and dogs as well as the occasional goat, pig, horse and other various animals. They are faced with animals who are there as a result of being feral, owner surrender and lost. They have dealt with individuals who have abused these fur babies. My heart goes out to each and every one of the staff as well as the dogs and cats. If you are looking for a place to volunteer , this is an amazing group. If you want a pet please consider adopting one from here. We often forget that they are a part of our lives, we are their WHOLE WORLD.
I went there to look at cats it was me and another gentleman that had went to the back to look for his lost cat the lady was helping him the other lady ignored me and went and got another person from the front brought him to the back and got in front of me and took the only available cat out and gave to him and I was there first and nobody was talking to me.
