A++++ The positive vibe gave us an Outstanding experience. I have 2 k9's Mastiff and English bulldog even though they are very well trained no one ever knows how a new veterinarian will effect them. Because Dr.Lisa and the staff were so familiar with both breeds and incredibly kind we had a great time. And we can't wait to return for our future check-ups .So thank you everyone for taking such good care of us !
If I could give this vet 10 stars I would. My family and I have took our dogs here the last 15+ years and the vet has had taken care of our dogs through out the years. Recently, our 11 year old boxer was put down because he became very ill. It’s been the hardest week for us, but we received a sympathy card in the mail from Melrose Veterinary Hospital. It was hand written, with so much love put into it. My family and I feel the love from this vet, to know that our dog touched many hearts makes us so happy. Thank you Melrose Veterinary, you guys are truly the best.
Not sure what happened today with the employees here. I made our appointment yesterday for today for my family to take my dog in for nail clippings, flea medication and a vaccine and after my care credit card was deactivated without my knowledge they were unable to pay for the services with it, so the office decided to charge 70$ for the nail clipping that is usually 20$ and then my family was told if they didn’t pay they weren’t going to give my dog back?! So they paid it, she got her nails clipped but what was the other 50$ for? She never got her flea medication which I’m sure would have been covered under that 70$ very unprofessional. Never had an issue with this place before until now, very disappointed.
I’ve worked in vet med for many years and this is hands down the worst vet clinic I have ever been to. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and took my dogs a handful of times, but it somehow got worse every time. The clinic smells like animal urine. The lobby is always overcrowded with people waiting, and too many animals in a small space. They also apparently do not digitize medical records. I have been trying to get a copy of my pet’s medical records for nearly two months now and the best they could do was give me a photocopy of the vet’s handwritten notes, which are incredibly illegible and therefore my pet insurance was unable to accept those records. I also still don’t know what my dog’s test results or diagnosis was, as I can’t read the notes and to be quite frank I’m not sure the veterinary staff can either, hence the refusal to send me professional, typed medical records. Business and Professions Code section 4855 states that vets shall provide a summary to the client upon request. Therefore, they must provide either a copy of the actual medical records or a summary that contains all the pertinent medical and drug information that is in the record. California Code of Regulation, section 2032.3(b) states that the following information shall be included: (1)Name and address of client and animal. (2)Age, sex, breed, species and color of animal. (3)History or pertinent information as it pertains to each animal´s medial status. (4)Data, including that obtained by instrumentation, from physical examination. (5)Treatment and intended treatment plan, including medications, their dosage and frequency of use. (6)All medications and treatments prescribed and dispensed, including, strength, dosage, quantity, and frequency. (7)Daily progress, if relevant, and disposition of case. It is 2024. It is ridiculous to not have typed, official medical records especially as they are also considered legal documents if the clinic were ever to face legal action. They were also uneducated about many things. One specific example was when they insisted that my 13-14 week old puppy was too young to receive the leptospirosis vaccine and that no vet would ever give it that young. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), however, recommends that puppies can receive their first leptospirosis vaccine at 12 weeks of age or later. Another example of issues I had with them, of which there are many, was trying to get heartworm preventative for my dog. I opted to use Chewy, as I could get a much better price and the product I wanted. Melrose stated that they do not work with online pharmacies, so I would have to submit the request myself. That was fine, all I needed was my dog’s prescription. Both in person, over the phone, and via email I explained to Melrose that Chewy needs an actual prescription, signed by the doctor with wet ink. They can NOT accept a photo copy. What did Melrose repeatedly give me? A photo copy. Chewy was unable to accept it and I still have yet to be able to get my dog a new supply of heartworm preventatives. I also can’t go to a different vet clinic to get a prescription because Melrose won’t send me my dog’s medical records and thus I don’t have proof of the negative heartworm test. Staff was repeatedly condescending, rude, and incorrect about basic veterinary procedures. My perfectly calm and relaxed pets were manhandled, which causes increased FAS (fear, anxiety, and stress) and is not an appropriate way to approach handling any animal, fearful or not. Wait times were ridiculous, communication was nonexistent. Calling and trying to talk to someone was laughable. I am still trying to recover my pets medical records but we will never be back and would never recommend this clinic. I highly encourage Melrose to invest in Fear Free practices and to adhere to AVMA and AAHA standards of care.
All of the staff are courteous and efficient. The vets have proven trustworthy and I feel like their recommendations are given to provide the best care, but also allow you to consider costs involved. My dog has been a patient for 4 years and care has been consistent.
I made an appointment for a first time puppy visit, and when I showed up they refused to see me due to double booking on their end. Everyone was super rude and apathetic, none of the receptionists offered a smile when I checked in or any real apology once they informed me of their error. I will not be returning, what a waste of time and resources to get here. They didn't even bother to call me to tell me they canceled my appointment. Unprofessional and unacceptable.
