We are retired seniors and adopted a dog on 4 21 24 going by their information on the dog. Their info on the dog was 80 percent wrong sorry to say. We called on day 4 and said we need to return the dog. We had to wait till 4 28 24 to return her. We did and I asked about a partial refund which they did not know. We had her less than a full week. 3 escapes from her about and hour each time. My neighbor caught her the last time. She did chew after we were told she didn't. Terrified our cats after we were told she was cat tested. NOT HOUSE BROKEN after we were told she was and did her business 90 percent INSIDE!!. We took her out every half hour. She came from a foster with a fenced yard and they knew we did not have one. She pulled me around like a toy and I weigh 235. Tried to climb trees after squirrels and just wanted to be outside and not in a home. I was told this was all my fault and refund would not be made in two emails back and forth. After less that one week we have no dog and are out $450.00 plus a bag of food and toys that we bought her. Close to $500.00 we are out and that hurts us as retired seniors. You would think if they wanted to have a dog get adopted someone would work with us to find one of their animals that would be a good fit (which would cost us another $450.00). Well Mary did get another home which we were very happy to see but to keep our money and basically kick us to the curb is unconscionable. Now they made $900.00 on the same dog.

Since I received no response by email: To whom it may concern: I am not looking for sympathy, but writing this in hopes that your organization can work on their compassion and empathy towards other moving forward so no future families need to be treated like we were throughout the adoption process. We were so excited to adopt Sega and bring her home with us earlier this week. We went out to Petsmart and spent hundreds on supplies, researched Pet Insurance companies and shared the great news along with photos with all our closest friends and family members. We both grew up with dogs during our childhood. Who would have been able to predict that Chris would develop a severe allergy to dogs in his mid twenties? Research states that your body changes every 7 years and this can occur. Chris tried to double up on two different allergy medicines at one time and even spoke to his doctor. As a family, we made a heartbreaking decision to give Sega/Kaya back to the rescue after trying what we could do on our end to keep her as part of our family. We were greeted yesterday with no hi or hello or recognition that we were even humans who had to make one of the hardest decisions of their lives when we dropped Sega/Kaya back off yesterday. I was crying while being shoved a paper to sign. Chris and I shared that we paid to have a DNA test done and would love to share the results with the rescue/her future family. Also, we inquired about getting the $675 we paid which I know is a valid question. The woman responded in a way that said “I can’t even believe you would ask that”. I believe this was a very valid question as we were not able to keep her in our household because or a medical condition. We spent over $1,000 on Sega during our short time with her. I offered to give more insight on what we learned about her behaviors and what she liked, but was cut off. I believe that we need more compassion in this world and more empathy towards others. Please take a second and imagine if you were in our shoes. You just adopted a dog or another pet that you’ve been waiting awhile for and you find out you have developed an allergy. You try to take combination of medicines to keep her in your household but still wake up in the middle of the night with such an adverse reaction that you need to take Benadryl and it’s hard to breathe because you are coughing so much. Or imagine it’s your child or significant other. We’ve cried over the loss of Sega/Kaya who we fell in love with from the moment we met her for the past 24 hours. The woman from your organization made the situation more painful than it had to be. Like stated in this first paragraph, I am not sharing this for sympathy. I am sharing our experience with hope for more compassion towards future families who may have to go through the same experience we went through. The world needs more kindness in it. I teach my students this everyday.
