Description The Animal Rescue League of Berks County is a charitable 501c3 organization caring for over 5,000 animals each year to help them find second chances in a new home, or to help reunite them with their grateful owners. For more than 70 years, we’ve worked tirelessly to care for the sick, treat the injured, comfort the unwanted and protect the abused. Whether helping people in need keep their pets through surrender prevention programs, offering low-cost veterinary services and clinics, as well as outreach and education events throughout the county, our work goes far beyond the walls of the shelter.

So I traveled nearly 3 hrs to adopt a Persian from here....the process was so fast. I was in and out with the cat I wanted within 30 minutes. The little guy still needed extensive grooming to clean him up when I got him home but I saw how many cats and dogs were there-pretty overwhelming. The staff was very polite. I think they are doing what they can and I am so happy to have Sydney (formerly Fruit Salad) 😸

Met Maya, and was told everything about her. Honestly was the best adopting experience I ever had. It was very personable. She is Super smart, very trainable and lovable. Now a month later she is right at home and not skinny anymore. Love's walks and her tennis balls. Lol and her bones and bed.

Everyone from the beginning of the process was extremely professional, but at the same time made myself and fiance comfortable and not nervous about adding a new member to our family. The facility is also super clean and well maintained from a customers stand point. We love our puppy and in a week of adopting her she is definitely apart of family. Couldn't imagine life without her! We have had our beautiful Zoe for almost a month now and we love her so much!!!!

Animal Rescue League was the best place to find a new loved one for our new family member. We recently adopted Obiwan Catnobi and he has fully made himself comfortable and happy to be in our home 🩷 they were patient and informative when helping us make our decision for him. We love him with all of our hearts and we couldn’t be happier to give him the love and kisses he deserves after being surrendered to the shelter. Thank you to whoever made the best choice to give him another chance 🩷 Now he has the perfect forever home 🥰

I donated a bunch of blankets for the animals to use. I went inside to take a look at the available cats. I have one cat now that needs more attention than I can give. I didn't get another one just yet. I'm still deciding. It's a big. decision, especially when thinking about a new kitten. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Every one of them.

I adopted my handsome guy, Cartman (Originally named Riff-Raff), from Berks County ARL back in October. I seriously could not be happier with the experience I had. The staff was fully transparent with me about the fact feline calicivirus was spreading around the shelter and had given me 10 doses of medication for him. A little over 4 months later, he is thriving! He did great at his first vet visit and he is the friendliest, sweetest kitty on the planet! I could not recommend this place enough for anyone interested in adding a pet to their family.
