got my sweet girl from there and she’s as happy as a pig in mud🫶the employees were so kind to send me home with some bowls and litter and a little scratch post for her for free! this shelter is so clean and well kept and the pets literally stole my heart! the prices are also super super reasonable

Jackson County Animal Rescue Center (shelter) has stretched pennies and hand me downs for decades. They are finally in a modern facility and honestly still don’t even have enough staff to care for the animals much less have more open hours. I’m shocked how quickly they filled up and how hard they work- even with the new support and space. Volunteers mean the world to the animals and people in this community as do the part time employees who allow the full time staff to work on county level needs and urgent animal related responses. Great staff, great volunteers, great resource management.

We’ve gotten many cats from this shelter over the years. Even tho most we’ve adopted have passed on now (unexpected and old age) those cats have been the sweetest babies. It’s nice seeing the shelter in a new location and how much the animals are loved and cared for. The volunteers were really helpful, kind, and just overall a good experience.

Very nice place! You can tell they really care about the animals! Plus nice doggy park!!!

The sweet kitty that I adopted from here was given to me full of worms and fleas despite the paperwork claiming that he was treated for both not long before I adopted him. He had loose stool all over himself when I first got him home, as he got sick out of his back end on the way home. I thought it was just his fear response, but looking back it was because he was full of worms when I adopted him. I had to treat him myself for fleas a couple of days after adopting him after I noticed them crawling on him, and treat my house in case they spread. I also have had to take him to the vet and pay for expensive dewormer after he made several loose stools around the house, full of roundworms. I absolutely love him, but I am disappointed that he was given to me in such a condition. Especially since they said they had treated him. I have never had to deal with a cat with fleas and worms like this, so it was a frustrating experience.
