Description Mid Hudson Animal Aid is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe haven for abandoned and abused felines in the Hudson Valley and beyond. Our residents are given humane and compassionate care in a free range environment while awaiting their forever homes. MHAA is committed to educating and informing the public about responsible pet ownership, placing animals in good adoptive homes, and encouraging spaying and neutering in our community to curb animal overpopulation and suffering.
This is a wonderful shelter. We adopted a pair of kittens from them this summer. MHAA rescued them as strays and took care of all their medical needs for the first 5 months, including spay/neuter, initial vaccinations, de-worming, and micro-chipping, so the adoption fee is well worth it. The application is also extensive, but everything they do is to ensure that the cats are going to a home where they will get proper medical care, up-dated vaccinations, and love. We are so grateful to MHAA for the good work they do!
Great Sanctuary!! You feel the immense love for the beautiful cats that care for and help there, his wonderful staff. Peace, love and tranquility are truly breathed in that clean, orderly and well-organized place. THANKS to the founder and all the people who work and support to keep this place great for our dear cat friends!!!
Mid Hudson Animal Aid is a wonderful sanctuary for cats. The staff works hard to ensure the best outcomes for all the cats. Health and security of the cats is paramount, and the premises, bowls and toys are cleaned and disinfected constantly. They have a great socialization program with many volunteers which ensures the best outcome for each cat.
What a wonderful place! Everyone here is great, special shout out to Robert showing me around along with very detailed information about each cat he showed me - I was really impressed with how clean and well kept the cats were. I was also really impressed with everyone's detailed knowledge of history of just about every cat in the shelter. I took home two dudes - Wayne and Garth (who now go by Bono and Garfield) and am looking forward to having two best buds!
This is a wonderful organization and the staff are so sweet and friendly. All of the cats we met were beautiful and SO well-cared for, including those with special needs. Their free-roam room is kitty heaven! If you're ever looking for ways to make a difference, please consider volunteering or making a donation of any size to help them help more of our feline friends in need.
I adopted my beautiful, sweet kitten from here and I am so happy that I got the chance to begin such a wonderful relationship with help from the friendly staff here. When I went to meet her they were in the middle of cleaning the entrance and apologized, but I think their efforts are a testament to the quality of care they provide for the shelter cats. My cat was quarantined and with some others after a respiratory illness was brought in by some new kittens, but the way they operated made me feel safe in adopting an animal from them. I am so grateful they found Sambuca- who I now call Esmeralda - so that I could bring her home for a new life!
