heart + paw providers and employees are amazing and cared a lot about my kitty Lemon! i am a helicopter cat mom and they answered every call and question so nicely and made my concerns feel heard. They were quick to follow up with me and did not make me feel like a burden. Dr Romanzi was very knowledgeable and cared a lot for Lemon's care and made my anxieties a little smaller. Dr. Karwacki also was super great when Lemon needed surgical treatment, and answered my many questions with lots of detail. the nurses and vet techs and the receptionists are seriously all so nice & welcoming, i would absolutely recommend this office to anyone! (only con is the price for larger issues, but small office visits are affordable and you definitely get what you pay for here! The money spent here is worth it to keep your pet health and happy. They also are willing to help you find cheaper options if money is an issue, it is clear your pet's health comes first!) Lemon is doing very well & she also thanks heart + paw!❤️
Amazing service, lovely doctors! My cat, snowball just chilled in Dr. Nichole’s lap so comfortably and even purred! They made him feel calm and treated him with kindness and patience. Thank you so much!
I brought my fur baby here for grooming. The staff that I met is great (ESPECIALLY Luke❤️) however, we did get off to a rocky start. Helen gave my baby the best haircut of his life! I would advise requesting full disclosure on pricing because they definitely upcharge wherever possible. I will bring him back now that I know what to expect.
great vet! my dog loves coming here! the staff are so kind and take excellent care of him. very calm environment and you can tell everyone there loves animals. super convenient and very easy to access my dog’s medical records, find pricing, get help or advice, and book appointments. highly recommend!
I really debated writing this review but for the sake of pet owners who go to this clinic please PLEASE get a second opinion if something feels off. I took my cat into heart and paw back in 2022 when I first got to Philly around October. She had a small mass on her neck, just quarter sized at the time, and after multiple X-rays, an ultrasound, a cytology, and blood test they let me know it wasn’t cancer and was probably an infection or small trauma from a scratch she got before. Well by the time February came around that mass grew to 3x the size and covered half her neck. After taking hundreds if not thousands of dollars from me and running around in circles for months did they let me know they had no idea what was going on. I went to a different vet and immediately they suggested a biopsy and let me know it was a rare form of cancer. I trusted this clinic. The vet staff were always nice. I always felt welcomed and treated with kindness, which is why I left this review at 2 stars. However due to their gross oversight I lost 5 months and I don’t even know how much money that could’ve been spent treating my cat. She passed July 2023, and it makes me sick wondering if she could’ve stuck around if I knew before. Maybe it wouldn’t have changed a thing, maybe it would’ve changed everything; only thing for sure is that I will never know and it’ll haunt me forever. Please get a second opinion for your pets.
I visited Heart + Paw on two occasions. The first time, my cat lost a tooth unexpectedly and they were able to fit me in for an appointment on the same day. Wow! The staff and the doctor were wonderful. Seemingly kind and caring, they offered me an estimate for cleaning my cat's teeth. They estimated between $860 and $1070. After some research, I decided to use Heart + Paw for the cleaning as the estimates were reasonable in comparison to other vet charges in Philadelphia. I paid a $200 deposit and we were ready to rock and roll. I had no reservations. The surgeon met us in the lobby to go over the process. She indicated that they could potentially have to remove teeth during the surgical process and that there would be a charge if that happened. I was NOT prepared for her call and the charges. She suggested that the charge was nominal enough not to be specified. She called during surgery and said that she suggested removing 3 teeth. I agreed that she could proceed- then she said my new bill would be over $2100. I went from a low estimate of $860 to a bill of $2150. I was stunned, completely taken off guard. I had been unable to work much due to problematic vision issues, my income had been tiny. I was not prepared mentally or financially for my bill to double. After surgery, the vet called to say that the procedure was a success. Of course I was grateful, but when she asked me if I had any questions, I asked her why the bill grew exponentially without warning me of the very high cost of removing teeth. Yes, I should have asked specifically about the charges I might expect, but she indicated nothing during our conference prior to surgery. Weirdly, all other charges were discussed in detail prior to surgery. She just conveniently left those potential tooth removal charges out. She did NOT like the fact that I asked her about this. I was not rude or aggressive, I simply asked why this was presented in such a manner and explained why this was a financial blow at the wrong time. She got defensive and rude immediately, though she knew she had no ammunition in which to attack me or defend herself. She simply said, in the most condescending tone possible, that I could have declined. And I responded, mirroring her tone exactly, that yes, indeed I could have declined. After that conversation, I never heard from her or the staff again save for an emailed summary visit. No follow up whatsoever, no call, no email, no texts regarding my cat's health. None. They followed up incessantly after my first visit, probably just trying to get my business instead of actually having concern for my pet. Being upset with me for calling out your questionable business practices is one thing, but ignoring and showing no concern for my pet is unconscionable. It is so deeply unprofessional, incredibly rude and very disappointing. They care about the money, not your fur baby. Be warned.
